How to Descale Your Hey Dewy

Descaling is an important part of cleaning your device. This process removes mineral deposits, or scale, that build up over time and hinder proper mist flow. Even the most state-of-the-art espresso machines, shower heads, filtration devices need descaling in order to maintain its optimum level of efficiency. Depending on the extent of mineral content in your water source, we recommend descaling as frequently as every 6 months.

Things you will need:

• Vinegar (this can be purchased at a local grocery store)

• New Filter (Need new filters? You can purchase them here.

Steps:

1. Fill your device near the Max Line. Pour a tablespoon of vinegar into the cup and carefully mix.

2. Turn on your device and allow it to run an entire cycle (up to 8 hours). Mist should return to full performance. (Note that it may take an additional one or two cycles for the vinegar smell to subside)

3. Discard water and replace with fresh water.

If your device has buildup around the spout area, follow these steps:

1. Soak one tip of your current filter in vinegar, about 1 cm in depth.

2. Place the filter (the side that's soaked with vinegar) on top of the spout and leave it there for 1 hour (see photo). Note: It may be helpful to lean the filter against a wall. Then after an hour remove the filter and the spout should look clean.

3. Put a new filter in the device, refill with water (all the way to the Max Line), close the lid, and let it soak for 10 minutes before turning ON. It may take up to 24 hours for any vinegar residual smell to subside.

• Check the Filter

It could be the case where the filter either needs to be flipped over or replaced.

To resolve this, follow these steps:

1. Open the lid.

2. Pull the filter out of the cylindrical tube. Be careful not to remove the tiny spring at the bottom of the tube.

3. Check to see if the filter looks frayed/discolored.

 • We recommend replacing your filter every 4-6 months depending on the frequency of use. New filters can be purchased here.

4. If the filter is frayed/discolored, replace it with a new filter. If the filter looks fine, flip it over.

5. Reconnect the tube to the lid.

6. Close the lid.

• Check for the spring

It could be the case where the filter is not fully making contact to the upper portion of the device.

To resolve this, follow these steps:

1. Carefully remove the cylindrical tube from the upper lid.

2. Inside you will find a filter, place it to the side for now.

3. Beneath the filter, at the bottom of the tube, there should be a small spring.

 • Don't see a spring? Contact us at support@heydewy.com and let us know so we can help you further. Please be sure to include your order number.

If the spring is there, leave it, place the filter back into the tube. Then connect the cylindrical tube back to the top lid of the device.
